Wine is a beverage daily used whether you drink it, whether you use it to cook thanks to its aromaiticity. Today we want to propose you some curiosity that only few of you know.

 

1- The most ancient graoevines fossil records, of 2 billion years ago, have been found in Tuscany. For the first traces of beverages derived from grape juice we had to wait until the Neolithic.

2- Why do the bottles are of 75 cl? This unit of measure derives from English people that used to measure the   volume in imperial gallons. Every gallon was worth 4,5 l. Each wine box contained 12 gallons, that divided in 12 bottles, gives the result of 75 cl.  each.

 

3- The first wine that was drunk in U.S. was a Spanish one. It was in 1942 thanks to Cristopher Columbus, and then with Magellano: navigators brought with them lot of litres of Jerez wine, capable of growing old without oxidizing.

 

4- Italy produces 43,3 billion of hectolitres of wine per year; this quantity is capable of filling in 1925 olympic swimming pools.

 

5- What good is the concavity of the pop bottle? Founded in the IV century, the bottom bell-shaped finds his origins in the floating glass bottles, whose rounded bottom was get back to obtain a greater stability.

 

6- The highest European vineyard is in Italy, in Cortina d’Ampezzo, at a height of 1350 mt.

 

7 – The country in which you drink the most is the Vatican!
